Who is a S.T.A.R. kid?
A S.T.A.R. kid is any child that requires Special Technology Assisted Resources (S.T.A.R.). This includes things like feeding tubes, medication pumps, apnea or special monitors, or any other technology assistance.
The Hall County Fire Services S.T.A.R. Kids Program allows EMS teams who would respond to the child's home in case of an emergency to become acquainted with the child, their parents and the equipment he or she uses before an emergency condition arises.
During the visit, the EMS teams will also address any concerns that parents have about response, and also help to develop an "Emergency Plan" to follow in event of a real emergency.
The S.T.A.R. Kids Program is funded through the Georgia Office of EMS, Emergency Medical Services for Children program.
Hall County Fire Services (EMS) S.T.A.R. Kids Program is open to all residents of Hall County. If you live outside Hall County, and are interested in the program, contact your local EMS provider.
Hall County residents can call or email Captain Tim Peebles, or Lieutenant Andy Buffington for more information at 770-531-6838.
